Drove past many times and wasn't disappointed when we stopped and had a look around...
This is a nice place to go for a walk and if you like history nice just to enjoy the sights and take a slow walk round, it's not the biggest location but there is plenty of character here
Beautiful historic property and garden. House is both ruins and restored. Plan on spending 1-2 hours there. They have toilets but no cafe. Free parking. Dog friendly, must be kept on lead. Beautiful peacocks on premises as well. Audio tour and map available.
Very authentic historic castle being sensitively restored. Lots of very interesting artifacts. Plenty of detailed information with some artist's impressions depicting life in the Elizabethan area. Lovely extensive gardens. Well worth a visit. Very friendly staff and lots of gift ideas. Good selection of chutney's, jams and wines including delicious sloe gin...... :)
Pleasant place to spend a couple of hours. You must use the free audio guide or you'll gain very little from the trip. We went on a weekday afternoon in October and found only a few other visitors, so for us that was the best time.
